So I had an appointment come through the post and it was months away. The long wait was worrying but there's nothing I could do? Doctors are busy! Mr Robert Almeyda saw my details and decided to fast track me to an appointment the following week. At my appointment he was polite, professional but had a really relaxing friendly approach that straight away put me at ease. He said he fast tracked me to an earlier appointment as didn't see the reason in making me wait so long worrying when I'm a busy mum. He talked about all the things he thought was causing the problems and did a scan, the scan revealed nothing sinister and he straight away put me at ease. He said come back in 3 months if I see any changes or think he might of missed something. He then sent a letter with a leaflet of information to give me more details of what I was suffering with. I couldn't have asked for more, highly recommend.

Mr Robert Almeyda has a wonderful bedside manner, he explained in understandable language my diagnosis , treatment, complications and prognosis. His calm approach helped me to relax and absorb all he was saying. He also had time to listen to me and answer any questions,. This all makes it easier for me, as a patient to go on to the next stage of my treatment with less nervousness and apprehension.

I found Dr Almeyda very informative & easy to get along with, he explained the possible causes of my hearing loss far better than previous people I have met. Hopefully after Dr Almeyda's consultation I will be provided with a much improved hearing aid which will enable me to lead a better quality of life, for which I will be extremely grateful to him.

Nobody would actually choose to go to hospital to be checked over and talked at by a stranger but that's what we must do if a diagnosis is needed. A hospital waiting room can seem like an alien environment where you await your turn wondering who and what awaits you in a little room in a corridor. In my case the who was Mr Almeyda and the what was an a lmost enjoyable consultation. Mr.Almeyda does not do patronising and as an 80 year old I appreciated that greatly. Mr.Almeyda instills confidence and trust thus giving patients unspoken permission to express their concerns, He asks for questions. He responds to those questions in a direct way and he listens, listens. listens. I had the procedures I was to undergo thoroughly outlined. Came out of that consultation knowing everything I should and not thinking "wish I'd asked this or wish I'd ask that or what did he say about that etc etc" as is usually the case. If my prognosis necessitated an operation I would hope for Mr Almeyda as the man for the job. A footnote: For my follow up consultation I arrived at JR at 8.30 for my 9.00 appointment with Mr. Almeyda. At.8.40 Mr Almeyda came into waiting room, called my name and warmly greeted my astonished self! (oh and also he is also very good looking ) Olive Higgins

I confess to not normally completing questionnaires of this kind [lack of time] but I felt moved to so here because of the quality care I received. Full info about my condition and how best to prevent recurrence. I appreciated being shown the scan results in detail in view of my own medical background. Many thanks Dr Almeyda David
